Havator and Kavamet win major Swedish order

26.02.2009

Havator Group and Kavamet Oy are supplying the structure and supplementary structure for E.ON's biofuel plant in Norrköping. This collaboration project between Kavamet and Havator is for an order amounting to approximately 5 mEUR. Foster Wheeler Energia Oy is the main contractor for this heating plant and has ordered the structure and superstructure. Kavamet Oy is supplying the structure while Havator Montage AB is to carry out the assembly. The structure weighs a total of around 1,500 tons.

Kenneth Liljamaa, manager of Kavamet's steel construction division, says that the Norrköping order guarantees jobs at the company up until early autumn, without requiring the company's entire capacity. Both Kavamet and Havator say that the order gives significant market exposure to future customers in the same business

"Here on the border we have a markedly lower threshold to taking on major projects on the Swedish side too. So it is great that we can intensify our cooperation with another Tornio company. We have worked together with Havator before, among other things on Outokumpu's stainless steel plant and the delivery to the Neste oil refinery", says Kenneth Liljamaa.

Havator Montage AB is delivering and assembling roof and wall structures to Foster Wheeler Energia Oy. The plant superstructure comprises over 10,000 sq m. Assembly in Norrköping starts in mid-April.

"In general, a significant venture, in which our divisions, including assembly, cranes, personnel hoists and also to some extent transporter operations collaborate in a cost-effective way," says Timo Erkkilä, Division Manager of Havator Montage in Finland.
