06.07.2011

Havator Transport is responsible for special transports in port of Rypefjord

ENI Norge is preparing for development of the Goliat field located in the Barents Sea. Technip has been awarded the EPCI contract for development, supply and installation of the Flowline and Riser systems connecting the subsea production systems with the Goliat floating production, storage and offloading, including the installation of the subsea templates. The current schedule is based on having 1st oil in November 2013.

Polarbase AS operating in Hammerfest in port of Rypefjord is responsible, as the subcontractor of Technip Norge, for support functions regarding the shuttle services of offshore drilling platforms and oil and gas fields. Polarbase utilized Havator Transport’s special expertise in transfers of Goliat project’s subsea templates from storage area to port of Rypefjord.

"Goliat site move operation was the first major spmt-contract for Havator Transport in Norwegian Oil & Gas industry and therefore very significant", says Timo Riiho, Managing Director of Havator Transport.

Havator has long experience of operations in Norway

Havator Group and Polarbase have a long experience in co-operation. Three years ago, Polar Lift, Havator Group’s subsidiary offering port crane services and Polarbase AS joined forces. The mutual joint venture offering port crane services operates under the name Polar Lift AS.

The most prestigious project so far in Havator's history has been Norway's biggest industrial project, on Melkeøya island off Hammerfest. In the years 2002-2007, Havator participated in building Europe's biggest natural gas facility - to where the gas was transported through a 140-kilometre pipeline from Snøhvit - a gas field below the sea. Havator set up a subsidiary in Hammerfest 6 months before the start of the Snøhvit project.

Factual knowledge on construction of Goliat oil field

The Goliat field is located in the Barents Sea, in a water depth up to 430m. It is situated roughly half way between Hammerfest and Snøhvit, approximately 50nm northwest of the city of Hammerfest.

The field is planned to be developed with eight templates, of which four are production templates, three are water injection templates and one is a gas injection template.

Riser bases will be installed within the platform 550m zone, from which flexible risers will connect the subsea flowline system with the floating production facility. There is an option for supply of a gas export line. The main installation season is 2012, with the template installation in 2011 and the riser installation and final hook-up planned for 2013.

Havator Transport activites, performed on behalf of Technip on site in Rypefjord:

- 32-axles of SPMT equipment on site + team to operate (smpt = self propelled modular transporter)

- Havator Transport's responsibility was to move 320 ton template (8 units) at storage area in port of Rypefjord

- templates had been delivered to port of Rypefjord by Heavy Lift vessel in two lots, 4+4, and Havator Transport moved units from quay side onto storage area

- afterwards templates were collected one-by-one to be transported by vessels further  to final location at oil field, in this face Havator Transport  moved the templates back to quay edge

- Havator Transport mobilized equipment to Rypefjord mid March and project was finished Havator Transport's part by end of May
