Bohuslyft becomes a part of the corporate group - Havator Group strengthens its position in Gothenburg, Sweden

07.08.2007

In June 2007, the crane company Bohuslyft Ab (Ltd) from Gothenburg became a part of the corporate group through a business acquisition. Bohuslyft Ab will strengthen Havator Ab's Gothenburg office by offering a skilled personnel and a modern fleet. Lars Hagstrand, the Local Manager, will also continue his work in Bohuslyft. Hagstrand will, among other things, be responsible for the taxi driving in the Gothenburg area.
- Based on the great resources that can be found inside the corporate group and on the fact that Havator has had a fantastic development, the decision to sell the company to Havator was easy to make, Hagstrand reveals about the details behind the acquisition. Lars Hagstrand will develop and build the sales and maintenance organisation in Gothenburg together with Local Manager Lars-Olof Carlsson. Carlsson's scope of responsibilities includes larger machines and projects.

At the time of signing the acquisition agreement, Bohuslyft had six employees, five truck-mounted cranes in sizes from 30 to 70 tons, one telehandler and two Maeda mini hoists. All employees were transferred to Havator Group as old employees. Erkki Hanhirova, Group President of the Havator Group, is very pleased with the acquisition:
- The fleet will be well supplemented with a smaller fleet with the capacity of less than 200 tons. In the past, the Gothenburg office has focused on larger project machines. Now, a new 95-ton crane will be placed in Gothenburg and in the future there will be over 10 machines in the city - a full-service fleet.

17 years of history behind

Bohuslyft Ab, which was founded by Bo Hagstrand, started its operations in 1990. Bo Hagstrand decided to set up a company after working in the industry for several years. In the same way as Finland, the deep economic depression affected also Sweden in the 1990's. Nevertheless, Bohuslyft survived the downward trend by offering its services to construction companies and the industry. As examples of the contracts of the 1990's, one can name the expansion of the Preem at Gothenburg which was contracted by Maxlift. In addition, Bohuslyft operated a large-scale expansion in the Volvo truck manufacturing plant and installed concrete elements into a tunnel that was built. In the beginning of the 2000's, the number of construction projects increased and Bohuslyft participated in some of the largest projects in the economic region of Gothenburg. These projects included the construction work of the new Rya combined heat and power plant and the expansion work of the Eastern Hospital of Gothenburg which had to meet very high environmental requirements. In addition, the company has been active with installations of different masts.
- This led to increased demand for the services of Bohuslyft, so expansion was a natural step for us, mentions Lars Hagstrand.

Searching for new professionals

The clientele of Bohuslyft consists nowadays of small and medium-sized construction companies, suppliers and installers of steel and concrete elements as well as bridge crane suppliers among others.
- At the moment we are in a construction phase which brings Bohuslyft to the same level with the previous activities of Havator in Gothenburg. In addition, we intend to purchase a new depot, which enables us to grow in the future. The problem, however, seems to be finding suitable premises, explains Hagstrand about the present situation.

After the company acquisition Havator Group strengthens its position in western Sweden, so the future looks bright. The ongoing and future construction projects form a significant clientele for Havator in the Gothenburg region.
- In order to meet this demand as well as possible, we are searching for new crane operators and trainees. The fact that we are a part of the Havator Group enables us to expand and develop generally, explains Hagstrand.
