Havator Group selected for crane services contractor at Outokumpu’s new ferrochrome plant and its mine at Kemi

01.02.2011

Outokumpu and Havator have signed a service contract of mobile crane services at Outokumpu’s new ferrochrome works, the concentration plant at the company’s Kemi mine, and site infrastructure. The contract includes the planning and execution of mobile crane services, coordinating the crane services and monitoring safety. The project is scheduled for completion in the latter half of 2012 and will employ tens of Havator personnel and crane units, mainly in the Kemi-Tornio area.

The new service agreement continues the long-term partnership and mutual trust between Havator and Outokumpu, according to Jussi Yli-Niemi, CEO of the Havator Group.

“Outokumpu and Havator have worked together ever since ground was first broken at the Kemi mine, and Havator has been involved in the construction of the Ferrochromium and Stainless Steel Plants from the very beginning as well. Outokumpu has strong focus to develop occupational safety performance.  For Havator Safety comes First and is number-one priority which has to show in our day-to-day operations.”

“Understanding the customer’s needs and local conditions are crucial in crane services,” continues Project Manager Tapio Still. “Maintenance and other support functions are also important. By concentrating mobile crane services to one provider and coordinating equipment usage it’s possible to reduce the amount of equipment needed and improve efficiency.”
